Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara, the heart of the California Coast, remains one of the most highly acclaimed residential destinations in the world. Located 100 miles north of Los Angeles and offering breathtaking coastal views with a year-round summer season, it is the perfect blend of Mediterranean and Californian flavors.

Originally inhabited by 10,000 Chumash Indians Santa Barbara has a rich cultural heritage. Spanish missionaries took hold of the region in 1782 building the Presidio (a military installation) and world famous Mission Santa Barbara, both of which are easily accessible from downtown Santa Barbara.

A mix of historic red-tiled Spanish rooftops to the more extravagant villas and mansions, Santa Barbara embraces a variety of home styles and designs. Ideal for all walks of life it is often referred to as the “American Riviera” due to its similar geography and climate to that of the French Riviera.

From summer festivals to holiday parades Santa Barbara always finds a reason to eat, drink, dance and enjoy life to the fullest. The up-and-coming “Funk Zone” features a collection of local winery tasting rooms just a short walk to Stearns’s Wharf and State Street. Art galleries, surf shops and restaurants surround the zone giving locals and visitors an alternative Santa Barbara experience.

State Street acts as the bustling heart of downtown, offering an exciting nightlife and vast array of theaters, most of which play host to the Santa Barbara International Film Festival every February. Some theaters include the historic Arlington, Lobero and newly renovated Granada. The famed Santa Barbara Bowl, a 4,562-seat outdoor amphitheater, has featured famous artists from all over the world, transforming Santa Barbara into a musical Mecca.

An endless number of activities can be enjoyed including East beach volleyball, hiking in the nearby mountains, horseback riding along the beach and sunset bike rides. Museums, restaurants and a wide selection of shopping are available for both curious visitors and locals alike.
